3-Ingredient Watermelon Frosé | Ambitious Kitchen


We had so much fun sharing our recipe for Drunken Strawberries last week that we knew we had to get another refreshing summer cocktail on your menu. Say hello to this fun, easy-to-make watermelon frosé!

That’s right, we’re adding booze to fruit again and we’re not mad about it. This frosé recipe is made with 3 simple ingredients but will have you feeling a lil’ fancy at your next party. Rebecca made this gorgeous drink + dessert combo on Instagram here and it was just as delicious as it was gorgeous.

What is “frosé?”

If you’ve never had (or even heard of) frosé, welcome to the party! Frosé is just “frozen rosé,” which can take many different forms. It’s basically a frozen slushy that uses rosé wine instead of that sweet syrup found in 7-Eleven slurpees. Think frozen margarita or daiquiri without the excess sugar. The AK team is FULLY obsessed and we know you will be, too.

Three ingredient watermelon frosé

When I say 3 ingredients I mean it! This watermelon frosé recipe is naturally sweetened, doesn’t require any pre-packaged mixers and is absolutely delicious. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Watermelon: choose a small, ripe watermelon for this yummy cocktail.
  • Rosé: pick your favorite bottle of rosé! A darker rosé is best because it tends to have more flavor than lighter ones.
  • Sweetness: the third ingredient is optional, but I like to add a little bit of agave nectar or honey for a punch of sweetness. This helps if your watermelon isn’t super ripe or sweet.

Add a little extra…party

This watermelon frosé is delicious and refreshing with just those three simple ingredients, but if you’d like to make it a little boozier you can also add about 1/4 cup of vodka!

How to make watermelon frosé

The best part about this fun summer drink is how easy it is to make. You don’t need a slushy machine, just a high powered blender!

  1. Prep your watermelon. You’ll first want to remove the skin from your watermelon and cut it into 1″ cubes. See exactly how to cut a watermelon here!
  2. Freeze your ingredients. Place your watermelon cubes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until solid. Pour your bottle of rosé (minus 1/2 cup) into two silicone ice cube trays and freeze that at the same time. The wine will retain a slushy texture because of the alcohol.
  3. Thaw the watermelon cubes. Before using the cubes, you’ll want to thaw the watermelon for about 10 minutes so that they’re not too hard to blend.
  4. Blend up the frosé. Add the slightly-thawed watermelon cubes and rosé cubes to your blender with the remaining 1/2 cup of rosé and agave (if using) and blend it all up well.
  5. Serve & enjoy! Pour the frosé into cocktail glasses with straws or into bowls with spoons, garnish with a little fresh mint and enjoy!

Frosé getting stuck?

If you’re finding the watermelon frosé tough to blend, simply let it thaw a tiny bit more while in your blender and use your blend stick or a wooden spoon to help move things around.

Experiment with different fruits

We loved the freshness that watermelon gave this frosé recipe, but it would also be delicious with other frozen fruits! Try:

Make it ahead of time

If you’d like to make this watermelon frosé ahead of time for a party or BBQ, you can! Just cut up your watermelon and freeze it with the rosé cubes until you’re ready to use them. Once the watermelon cubes are frozen on the baking sheet, feel free to transfer them to an airtight bag until you’re ready to use them so that you can save space in your freezer.

Delicious watermelon frosé made with 3 simple ingredients for the perfect summer party cocktail! This easy watermelon frosé recipe is so refreshing on a hot summer day and a great way to use up fresh watermelon. Elevate any BBQ, party or girl’s night with this fun drink!

    small seedless watermelon, skin removed and chopped into 1-inch cubes (4 cups total)
  • 1
    bottle rosé wine
  • Optional: 1-2 tbsp. agave nectar or honey
  1. Place watermelon cubes on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and freeze until solid (about 4-6 hours or overnight).

  2. Pour a bottle of rosé into two ice cube trays, reserving 1/2 cup rosé for blending later. Freeze the ice cube trays while you’re freezing the watermelon. The wine will mostly freeze but might remain a bit slushy from the alcohol.

  3. Remove the watermelon cubes from the freezer and let them thaw on the counter for about 10 minutes so that they’re not completely rock hard.

  4. Add the watermelon cubes with the rosé cubes and the remaining 1/2 cup of rosé to a high-powered blender. Add agave nectar or honey, if using.

  5. Blend until the mixture becomes a slushy consistency, using your blender stick or a wooden spoon to stir things around if it gets stuck.

  6. Serve immediately in wine or cocktail glasses or bowls and eat with spoons.
