AC Milan target five Real Madrid players in summer spree

Milan’s stellar season

AC Milan have had a fantastic season by their recent standards. The Rossoneri finished second in the Serie A, albeit behind their bitter city-rivals Inter.

The result of this is that they will be playing Champions League football again for the first time since the 2013/14 season, when they exited at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the round of 16 stage.

The Italian club will be looking to strengthen their side ahead of their re-entry into Europe’s top club competition, with AS reporting that they are eyeing up as many as five Real Madrid players.

Extending Brahim Diaz

The first of those players is one that they have already seen plenty of. Brahim Diaz has been on loan in Italy for the 2020-21 season, making 27 Serie A appearances for AC Milan and providing eight goal contributions in the process.

Milan are said to be keen on extending the loan deal for Diaz, which expires this summer. Diaz would likely not start for his parent side Real Madrid, who already have Eden Hazard, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and a returning Gareth Bale in the wide areas.

In addition, the Rossoneri are making enquiries over a further four players from Los Blancos. Dani Ceballos, returning from a two year spell at Arsenal, is on their list, along with striking pair Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz, both of whom have struggled for game time at the Santiago Bernabeu during their time in the Spanish capital.

The report further suggests that right-back Alvaro Odriozola could be of interest to the Milanese outfit, with Diogo Dalot due to return to Manchester United after his loan spell ends. They will therefore need competition for current right-back Davide Calabria.

It is shaping up to be a big summer for Milan, with the club eager to build on a successful season. Whether this involves raiding Real Madrid once again remains to be seen however.
